Camping on the Trail
circle_of_wagons.jpg

Some years after the Revolutionary war, there was a new group that emerged. They were the pioneers who were people that looked for new land so they moved to other places. Some people went west walking. Others went around South America and came to what is known as California and other states. They woke up at 5:00, traveled till 6:00 pm, then they ate and put there wagons in a circle. That was to protect themselves against Native Americans but it didn't work so well. At 9:00 they slept and then each day they did the same thing. It would be different if they had to cross a river or if it was raining because that slowed them down.
